Question
How does the density of a body and that of a liquid determine whether the body will float or sink into that liquid?
Solution
The density of an object determines whether it will float or sink in another substance. An object will float If the density of a body is LESS than the density of LIQUID. An object will sink If the density of a body is MORE than the density of liquid it is placed in.

Assertion (A): The buoyant force on a submerged rigid object can be considered to be acting at the center of mass of the object.
Reason (R): In rigid body, force distributed uniformly through its volume can be considered to be acting at the centre of mass of the body.
