Question
How is concentrated ore changed to oxide?
Solution
Concentrated ore (ZnS) is changed into oxide (ZnO) by heating ZnS in excess of air.
\[\ce{2ZnS + 3O2 ->[800^\circ C]2ZnO + 2SO2}\]
ZnO becomes porous and more easy to reduce.
