How it has led to deforestation in recent years?

1. Because forest trees are burned in Jhum agriculture to make room for farming and to get ash as fertiliser, precious forest cover is lost.
2. Farmers use this land for farming when the trees are gone. The area is left desolate after cultivation and harvesting.
3. It is utilised to graze livestock.
4. Because it takes a long time to regenerate land into a forest area, deforestation occurs.
