(a) Ethene into1,2- Dibromoethene:

when bromine gas is passed into inert solvent like CCI4 Containing dissolved ethene at room temperature, one molecule of Bradds across the double bond togive ethylene dibromide.

\[\ce{CH2 = CH2 + Br -> CH2Br - CH2Br}\]

(b) Ethene to bromoethane:

Ethene reacts with halogen acids to form alkyl halidies.

\[\ce{CH2 = CH2 + HBr -> CH3 - Ch2Br}\]
