Let αandβbe the roots of quadratic equationax2+bx+c=0 in such a way that α=3β

Here, a = a, b = b and , c = c

Then,

according to question sum of the roots

α+β=-ba

3β+β=-ba

        4β=-ba

α=-b4a….. (1)

And the product of the roots

α.β=ca

3β×β=ca

3β2=ca

β2=c3a….. (2)

Putting the value of β=-b4a in equation (2)

-b(4a)2=c3a

 b216a2=c3a

       b2=c3a×16a2

b2=16ac3

b2ac=163

b2:ac=16:3
