Question

If two supplementary angles are in the ratio 2 : 7, find them.

Sum

Solution

Ratio between two supplementary angles = 2 : 7

Let the angles be 2x and 7x
∴ 2x + 7x = 180°

⇒ 9x = 180°

⇒ x = `(180°)/9` = 20°

∴ First Angle is 2x = 2 × 20° = 40°
Second Angle is 7x = 7 × 20° = 140°
