Question

If x – y ≥ 8, x ≥ 3, y ≥ 3, x ≥ 0, y ≥ 0 then find the coordinates of the corner points of the feasible region.

Graph

Solution

Consider x – y = 8

If x = 0, y = –8,

∴ A = (0, –8)

If y = 0, x = 8,

∴ B = (8, 0)

Region is non-origin side

x = 3 is line parallel to Y-axis and region is non-origin side.

y = 3 is line parallel to X-axis and region is non-origin side.

Put y = 3 in x – y = 8

∴ x = 11

∴ P = (11, 3)

Corner point is only one i.e. P = (11, 3)
