In ΔABC, DE || BC. If DB = 5.4 cm, AD = 1.8 cm, EC = 7.2 cm, then find AE.

Solution
In ΔABC, DE || BC
∴ `(AD)/(DB) = (AE)/(EC)` ....(Basic proportionality theorem)
∴ `1.8/5.4= (AE)/7.2`
∴ AE × 5.4 = 1.8 × 7.2
∴ AE = `(1.8 xx 7.2)/5.4`
∴ AE = `12.96/5.4`
AE = 2.4 cm
