Question

Insert the symbol ‘=’ or ‘>’ or ‘<’ between the pair of fractions, given below:

`5/12 ... 8/33`

Sum

Solution

`5/12,8/33`

L.C.M. of 12, 33 = 132

`5/12=(5xx11)/(12xx11)=55/132`

and `8/33=(8xx4)/(33xx4)=32/132`

It is clear that `55/132>32/132`

⇒ `5/12>8/33`
