Question

Ionisation Potential values depend on atomic size. Explain.

Short Note

Solution

The ionisation potential is the energy needed to remove an electron from a neutral isolated gaseous atom. As size increases, ionisation energy decreases due to removing valence electrons from the nucleus and reducing electrostatic attraction.
