Solution
John sells goods worth ₹ 2,000 to Manish belonging to the same state. John gives a discount of 20% and charges GST = 5%. Then John gets ₹ 1,680.
Explanation:
S.P. of goods for John = ₹ 2000
Discount = 20%
∴ Discount = 20% of 2000
= ₹ `(20/100 xx 2000)`
= ₹ 400
∴ Selling price after discount
= ₹ 2000 – ₹ 400
= ₹ 1600
Rate of GST = 5%
As this is an Intra State Sales
∴ CGST = 2.5% of ₹ 1600 = ₹ 40
SGST = 2.5% of ₹ 1600 = ₹ 40
∴ Amount received by the John
= ₹ 1600 + 40 + 40
= ₹ 1680
