Question
Land is one of the most important factors of production. In this context, mention two ways in which the efficiency of land can be enhanced?
Solution 1
There are two methods by which the efficacy of land can be enhanced:
- Land is a fixed factor; hence, it cannot create anything. Man must put effort into creating for himself. Therefore, using personnel and providing knowledge to the farmers will help increase the output of land.
- Land development projects help increase land efficiency through improved quality fertilizers, pesticides, etc.
Solution 2
Land is the original source of all natural wealth. No productive operation is possible without land. The economic prosperity of a nation is directly related to the richness of its natural resources. Two ways of raising the efficiency of land are:
- Productivity of land is largely determined by its natural qualities such as fertility.
- It also depends upon knowledge and training of workers. A wise farmer can take more produce from this same land than an unwise farmer.
- It can be enhanced by its proper utilisation through measures like the provision of well or tubewell irrigation.
- Agricultural productivity can be increased by proper and extensive use of manures and fertilisers along with the adoption of mechanised methods of production.
