Question

Lemons were bought at Rs 48 per dozen and sold at the rate of Rs 40 per 10. Find the gain or loss per cent.

Sum

Solution

Cost of 12 lemons = ₹ 48

∴ Cost of 1 lemon = ₹ `48/12` = ₹ 4  ...[∵ 1 dozen = 12 pieces]

Also, 10 lemons sold by = ₹ 40

∴ Selling price of 1 lemon = ₹ `40/10` = ₹ 4

∴ Cost price of 1 lemon = Selling price of 1 lemon

∴ No profit and no loss.
