Girls' bodies undergo the following changes during puberty:

  1. A sudden increase in height.

  6. The ovaries expand, and the maturation and release of eggs begin. This results in the commencement of the menstrual cycle and the the development of sexual organs.
  7. Growth of pubic and armpit hair.

Boys' bodies go through the following changes during puberty:

  1. A sudden increase in height.
  2. The shoulders broaden and the chest expands.
  3. Boys have larger muscles than girls.
  4. The voice box, also known as the larynx, begins to expand and protrudes from the throat as Adam's apple. Boys develop deep voices.
  5. Sweat and sebaceous glands become more active.
  6. Male sex organs such as the testes and penis reach full development.
  7. Growth of pubic and armpit hair. Along with this, facial hair (beard and moustache) grows.
