- Students must have observed adventitious roots in monocotyledonous plants like maize, sugarcane, wheat, etc.
- Adventitious roots develop from any part of a plant other than the radicle.
- In such plants, adventitious roots arise from the lower node of a stem and provide extra support to the plant. These roots are also called as stilt roots.
