The following situations result in a member of parliament's seat being vacant:
- A member may provide notice of his resignation by writing to the Chairman or the Speaker, as applicable.
- If a member has missed all of the meetings for 60 days without permission, the Chairman or Speaker can declare the seat vacant.
- The seat of a member will become vacant if he is elected as President or Vice-President or appointed as a state governor.
