Question
'Minerals generally occur in different rocks.' Examine the statement.
Explain
Solution
Minerals exist in various rock types, such as sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic.
- Sedimentary rocks: You can find minerals on the bottom and top of solid rocks. Sedimentary rocks have minerals like gypsum, potash, and coal in them. Minerals in igneous rocks are generally stronger and more durable than minerals in sedimentary rocks.
- Igneous and metamorphic rocks: In most cases, metallic minerals can be found in massive igneous and metamorphic rock structures that form plateaus. The joints, cracks, and fissures in these rocks are mineral deposits. Mineral deposits can be broken down into two categories one is smaller veins and second is larger lodes. Iron ore, nickel, copper, chromites, and platinum are some minerals that may be found in igneous and metamorphic rocks, depending on their composition.
