Question
Name the function of the following:
Endometrium
Solution
It is the uterine mucous membrane, which thickens and becomes more glandular as the menstrual cycle progresses and has an enhanced blood supply. This prepares the endometrium for embryo implantation, but if it does not occur, most of the endometrium declines and is lost during menstruation. If a pregnancy is confirmed, the endometrium develops into the decidua, which is shed after birth.
