Our Judicial system has a Supreme Court at its Apex, followed by the High Court and other subordinate Courts. In the light of this statement, explain the following:

Any three ways by which the Constitution ensures the Independence of the Judiciary.

Solution

Three ways by which the Constitution ensures the independence of the Judiciary:
(i) A judge can remain in office till he reaches 65 years of age and cannot be removed from his office except by the process of impeachment.
(ii) Salaries and allowances of judges are charged upon the Consolidated Fund of India and cannot be reduced to their disadvantage.
(iii) Judges are free to announce their decisions and their decisions cannot be criticised in public or by the press.
