Question
Polygamy was considered a suitable form of marriage by some societies. State any one merit of polygamy with reference to the given statement.
Solution
As some societies see it, one benefit of polygamy is that it makes resource and wealth accumulation possible. In certain societies, polygamy served as a means for affluent men to take on multiple wives, who could subsequently support the family business by working the fields, taking care of the animals, or performing other useful tasks. A man's family would have greater resources and a better division of labour the more wives he had. In that sense, multiple women share responsibilities around the house.
