Let G₁, G₂, be two geometric means between a = 2 and b = 16.

Then, 2, G₁, G₂, 16 is a G.P.
Thus, we have
First term = a = 2
4^th term of the G.P. = ar³ = 16

⇒ 2 x r³ = 16
⇒ r⁴ = 1296
⇒ r³ = 8
⇒ r³ = 2³
⇒ r = 2

∴ G₁ = ar = 2 x 2 = 4

 G₂ = ar² = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8
