Rahim was working in an enterprise on daily wages basis. It was difficult for him to fulfil the basic needs of his family. His daughter fell ill. He had no money for his daughter's treatment. To meet the expenses of her treatment, he participated in a cycle race and won the prize money. The cycle company offered him a permanent pensionable job which he happily accepted

  1. By quoting the lines from the above para identify the needs of Rahim that are satisfied by the offer of Cycle Company.
  2. Also, explain two other needs of Rahim followed by above that are still to be satisfied.

Solution

1) The cycling company offered Rahim a permanent pensionable job which satisfied his physiological and security needs. These needs are essential for survival. It is clearly mentioned from the statement ‘It was difficult for him to fulfil the basic needs of his family’. An individual may desire to find a secure job and stable income to meet daily requirements for survival.

2) Two other needs which remain to be satisfied: (a) Belongingness Needs: It refers to the social needs of an individual in terms of affection and acceptance. In other words, it refers to a feeling of belongingness to society. (b) Esteem Needs: It comprises elements such as respect, dignity and recognition in the peer group.
