Question
Simplify and express the following in exponential form:
`(2^3 xx 3^4 xx 4)/(3 xx 32)`
Solution
`(2^3 xx 3^4 xx 4)/(3 xx 32) = (2^3 xx 3^4 xx 2 xx 2)/(3 xx 2 xx 2 xx 2 xx 2 xx 2)`
= `(2^3 xx 3^4 xx 2^2)/(3 xx 2^5)`
= `(2^(3 + 2) xx 3^4)/(3 xx 2^5)` ...(∵ am × an = am + n)
= `(2^5 xx 3^4)/(3 xx 2^5)`
= 25 - 5 × 34 - 1 ...(∵ am ÷ am = am - n)
= 20 33
= 1 × 33
= 33
