Question
Solve the following quadratic equations by factorization:
`x^2-(sqrt3+1)x+sqrt3=0`
Answer in Brief
Solution
We have,
`x^2-(sqrt3+1)x+sqrt3=0`
`rArrx^2-sqrt3x-x+sqrt3=0`
`rArrx(x-sqrt3)-1(x-sqrt3)=0`
`rArr(x-sqrt3)(x-1)=0`
`rArrx-sqrt3=0`
`rArrx=sqrt3`
or,
⇒ x - 1 = 0
⇒ x = 1
Hence, `x=sqrt3` or x = 1
