Question
State, if the following pair of a set, is disjoint:
A = {natural numbers less than 10} and
B = {x : x is a multiple of 5}
Solution
A = {natural numbers less than 10} and B = {x : x is a multiple of 5}
⇒ A = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9} and B = {5, 10, 15}
These are not disjoint sets as there is one element 5, which is common.
