Manganese dioxide reacts with concentrated HCl.

Solution

When manganese dioxide gas reacts with concentrated HCl then the liberation of greenish-yellow gas is observed. This gas is chlorine which turns moist iodide starch paper blue-black. The reaction is given as:

\[\ce{MnO2 + 4HCl -> MnCl2 + 2H2O + Cl2}\]
