Question
The area of a playground is 4800m2. Find the cost of covering it with gravel 2.5cm deep, if the gravel costs Rs.7.25 per m3.
Solution
Given that:
Area of playground = 4800m2
i.e., l x b = 4800m2 ......................................(1)
Height (h)
= 2.5cm
= 0.025m ...[∵ 1m = 100cm]
Volume of playground
= l x b x h
= 4800 x 0.025 ...[From (1)]
= 120m3
Cost of gravel = Rs.7.25per m3
i.e., For 1m3 = Rs.7.25
∴ For 120m3 = Rs.7.25 x 120
= Rs.870
Thus the cost of covering the area with gravel = Rs.870.
