Question

The curved surface area of a cylinder is 264 m2 and its volume is 924 m3. The ratio of its diameter to its height is

Options

  • 3 : 7

  •  7 : 3

  • 6 : 7

  • 7 : 6

MCQ

Solution

The C.S.A. of cylinder

S = 264 m2

The volume of cylinder

V = 924 m3

`2pirt = 264`

`2rh = (264 xx 7)/22`

`2rh = 84`        ...........(1)

`rh = 42`

`pir^2h = 924`

`r(rh) = (924 xx 7)/22`

`r(rh) = 42  xx 7`        ...........(2)

From eq. (1) and (2),

We get r = 7

Putting the value in (1) h = 6

Hence , `d/h = 14/6 = 7/3`

 d : h = 7 : 3
