The forward characteristic curve of a junction diode is shown in Figure 4 below :
Calculate the resistance of the diode at
(1) V = 0.5 V
(2) I = 60 mA
Solution
Resistance of Diode
V = 0.5 V
At V = 0.5V, I = 40 mA
We know that V = IR
`:. R = V/I = 0.5/(40xx10^(-3)) = 12.5` Ω
∵ I = 60 mA
we get V = 0.6
`:. R = V/I =- 0.6/(60xx10^(-3)) = 10 Ω`
