Question

The length and breadth of a school ground are 150 m and 90 m respectively, while the length and breadth of a mela ground are 210 m and 126 m, respectively. Are these measurements in proportion?

Sum

Solution

Given, Length of school ground = 150 m

Breadth of school ground = 90 m

Length of mela ground = 210 m

Breadth of mela ground = 126 m

If measurements are in proportion, then

`"Length of school ground"/"Breadth of school ground" = "Length of mela ground"/"Breadth of mela ground"`

⇒ `150/90 = 210/126`

⇒ `5/3 = 5/3`

Hence, the measurement are in proportion.
