Question

The measures of the angles of a triangle are (3x - 5)°, (3++ 5)° and 6x° Find x and state that the type of triangle formed.

Sum

Solution

We know that the sum of all angles of a triangle are 180° (By angle sum property)
Thus, we get: (3x - 5)° + (3x + 5)° + 6x° = 180°
⇒ Collecting like terms, we get:
(2x)° + (5 - 5)° = 180°

⇒ x = `(180)/(12)°` = 15°.

Thus, the angles of the triangle are respectively:
(3x - 5)° = (3 x 15 - 5)° = 40°
(3x - 5)° = (3 x 15 + 5)° = 50°
And 6x° = 6 x 15° = 90°
Since on e of the angles is 90°, the type of triangle formed is right angled.
