1. The fight between Lomov and Natalya in Anton Chekhov's play The Proposal is over Oxen Meadows, a plot of land that both families claim as their own. The fight gets more heated as both Natalya and her father, Chubukov, strongly disagree with Lomov's claim. 
2. Lomov suddenly passes out during the fight, and Natalya and Chubukov think he has died. When they realize how bad things are, they decide to stop fighting and put their differences aside. As soon as Lomov wakes up, Chubukov starts lobbying hard for his daughter to marry him.
3. He and she finally agree to end their fight, and Natalya and Lomov get engaged. The fight over Oxen Meadows is over, but they are still arguing about other small things. This shows how small things can cause needless arguments.
