Question
The wavelengths of a certain blue light in air and in glass are 480 nm and 320 nm, respectively. Find the Brewster angle for this blue light incident on the glass.
Numerical
Solution
Data: λa = 480 nm, λg = 320 nm
n = `(λ_a)/(λ_g)` and n = tan θB
∴ tan θB = `(λ_a)/(λ_g)`
= `480/320`
= 1.5
∴ θB = tan−1
= 1.5
= 56°19
This is the required Brewster angle.
