n (A) = 400, n(B) = 300 and n(A ∪ B) = 600
n(A ∪ B) = n(A) + n(B) – n(A ∩ B)
⇒ n(A ∩ B) = n(A) + n(B) – n(A ∪ B)
= 400 + 300 – 600 = 100
