Question

Wavelengths of different radiations are given below:

λ(A) 300 nm, λ(B) 300 µm, λ(C) 3 nm, λ(D) = 30 A°

Arrange these radiations in the increasing order of their energies.

Short Note

Solution

1 nm 10–9 m
1 µm 10–6 m
1 A° 10–10 m

We know that energy is inversely proportional to the wavelength.

300 nm `3 xx 10^-7` m
300 µm `3 xx 10^-4` m
3 nm `3 xx 10^-9` m
30 A° `3 xx 10^-9` m

Thus the increasing order of energy is B < A < C = D
