What are biodegradable polymers? Give examples.

1. The materials that are readily decomposed by microorganisms in the environment are called biodegradable.

2. Natural polymers degrade on their own after a certain period of time but synthetic polymers do not.

3. The biopolymers which disintegrated by themselves in biological systems during a certain period of time by enzymatic hydrolysis and to some extent by oxidation are called biodegradable polymers.
