Question
What are components of water potential? Explain
Solution
Components :
Water potential of a cell is the sum of the solute potential of the cell sap and the pressure potential of the cell wall.
Ψw=Ψs+Ψp
Ψw = Water potential of cell
Ψs = Solute potential of cell sap
Ψp = Pressure potential
Ψp : A pressure built up inside the cell making the cell thrgid is called pressure potential.
Ψs : The component of water potential that is due to the presence of solute molecules is called as solute potential
