Properties of Troposphere :
- It extends to a height of 18 km at the equator and declines gradually to a height of 8 km at the poles.
- Most of the weather phenomena take place in this layer.
- It contains almost all the water vapour and most of the dust particles. It is a turbulent zone.
- The upper limit of troposphere is called tropopause.
- In the troposphere, the temperature of air decreases at an average rate of 1°C for every 166 metres.
