The Johads made significant socio-economic impact on the life of the people of Rajasthan in the following ways:

1. Due to the construction of the Johads wells have been recharged and seasonal rivers have become perennial, which resulted in continuous supply of water throughout the year.
2. Consequently water was available for irrigation of crops which increased the agricultural production. Village economy prospered and the living standards of the people increased.
3. Livestock rearing also increased which also brought additional income to the villagers.
4. Life of the women became easier. Earlier women used to travel miles to fetch water but now water is available for cooking, washing and bathing in their own village.
