Solution
The air may contain dust and smoke which when inhaled may cause sickness and death. Foreign substances have been present in the air at all times and in all places. The term air pollution is, therefore, applied when there is an excessive concentration of foreign matter in the external atmosphere which is harmful to man or his environment.
