Water-generated electricity is known as hydel power or hydroelectricity. Hydroelectricity is derived from the energy generated as water falls from a high height with force. A dam is built to catch river water and store it. Then it's permitted to fall from a height. The turbine blades at the bottom of the dam move with falling water, causing the generator to rotate and produce power.
