What is the best way to hang a curtain and why?

1. A long curtain with the curtain rod placed at a distance of 2/3rd the distance between ceiling and window is best.
2. This curtain should be long enough to almost touch the floor.
3. This gives the room an open and lavish effect.
4. Short curtains cut down the visual impact of space.
5. Also, in terms of width, the curtain rod should be 10-12 inches wider than the window on either side to maximise the use of the light and air coming from the window.
