  Cations Anions
(1) They are positively charged ions. They are negatively charged ions.
(2) Migrate to the cathode during electrolysis. Migrate to the anode during electrolysis.
(3) Gain electron(s) from the cathode and get reduced to become a neutral atom. Lose electrons to the anode and get oxidised to become a neutral atom.
(4) Examples: Na+, Ca2+, Al3+ Examples: \[\ce{PO^3-_4}\], Cl, \[\ce{SO^2-_4}\], OH
