Solution
Let the required quantity which is to be added be p.
Then, we have:
`(x + p)/(y + p) = c/d`
dx + pd = cy + cp
pd – cp = cy – dx
p(d – c) = cy – dx
`p = (cy - dx)/(d - c)`
