Question
What steps have been taken for protecting Women’s Rights?
Solution
In 1979 the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women was adopted by the General Assembly and was ratified by all countries. This has been the main instrument for protecting women’s rights. Earlier a commission on the status of women was set up in 1946 to promote women’s rights in political, economic, social and educational fields.
