Question

When is the demand for a good said to be perfectly inelastic?

Solution

When the quantity demanded of a good is independent of its price then the demand of that good is said to be perfectly inelastic. In other words, when the quantity demanded does not show any responsiveness to the changes in the price, we say that the elasticity of demand is perfectly inelastic i.e. |ed| = 0.
