Tank irrigation has reached its highest perfection in the south, specially in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. States of West Bengal and Rajasthan too have some irrigation tanks, particularly in their southern and south-eastern regions respectively. Some irrigation tanks do exist in Bundelkhand area in Uttar Pradesh and South Bihar.
