Question

Which of the following matrices are singular or non singular?

`[(3, 5, 7),(-2, 1, 4),(3, 2, 5)]`

Sum

Solution

Let A = `[(3, 5, 7),(-2, 1, 4),(3, 2, 5)]`

∴ |A| = `|(3, 5, 7),(-2, 1, 4),(3, 2, 5)|`

= 3(5 – 8) – 5(–10 – 12) + 7(– 4 – 3)

= 3(– 3) – 5(–22) + 7(–7)
= – 9 + 110 – 49
= 52 ≠ 0
∴  A is a non-singular matrix.
