Multiple fission in Amoeba
i. Whenever there is a lack of food or any other type of adverse condition, Amoeba and other similar protists become rounded and form a protective covering around plasma membrane called as ‘cyst’.
ii. Repeated nuclear divisions in the cyst result in the formation of many nuclei.
iii. This is followed by cytoplasmic division and as a result, many encysted amoebulae are formed.
iv. Under favourable conditions, cyst breaks open and many amoebulae are released.
