Question
Why should spotting of mixture be done above the level of mobile phase?
Short Note
Solution
- If the spotting of the mixture is not done above the level of the mobile phase, then the mixture will get completely submerged in it.
- Now, when the mobile phase moves up due to capillary action, it takes the different components of the mixture up to a different height and thereby separates them.
